"As the female foreigners have violated immigration rules, they will be handed
over to the immigration office," Tjiptono said, referring to the tourist visas
they were using.
"Of the 67 arrested, six hold expired visas for more than two months on
average," he said.
Tjiptono further explained that nine Chinese nationals were arrested by Jakarta
Police directorate of intelligence and security, 10 Chinese, Russian and
Uzbekistan citizens by the Central Jakarta Police, 22 Chinese nationals by
North Jakarta Police and 26 other Chinese by West Jakarta police.
"Such operations will periodically be launched until all foreigners breaching
immigration rules are nabbed," he said.
Prostitution involving foreigners has been going on for some years, but until
now no action has been taken by either by the police or immigration office.
