Philippine police shoot dead Dutch brothers operating cybersex den
May 27, 2005
Philippine police Wednesday night shot dead two Dutch brothers operating a
cybersex den in Metro Manila and rescued seven women being used by them as "sex
models".
The Presidential Anti-Illegal Recruitment Task Force (PAIRTF) agents Wednesday
night went to a house on 6th Street, Barangay Mariana in Quezon City, which was
allegedly being used as a cybersex den, to serve a search warrant to the
suspects, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported on Friday.
Killed were Willem van Engelenburg, 44, and his brother Erik, 38, after they
allegedly engaged operatives of the (PAIRTF) in a gunfight, said the report.
The raid was backed up by a search warrant issued by Manila Regional Trial
Court Judge Antonio Eugenio Jr. after weeks of surveillance.
When the agents, led by PAIRTF director Reynaldo Jaylo, came upon the
Engelenburg brothers, the brothers suddenly drew their guns and fired at them,
a PAIRTF member was quoted as saying. Jaylo and his agents fired back, killing
them both.
The anti-illegal recruitment agents also rescued seven women who were allegedly
being used as "sex models" on the Internet.
Another cybersex den at 954-A Aurora Boulevard corner Ermin Garcia in Cubao,
also in Metro Manila, was also allegedly operated by the Engelenburg brothers,
according to a police report.
A PAIRTF member said it was possible that more cybersex dens were being
maintained by the brothers.
