Police arrested a Korean for operating a massage parlor in Salinas Drive in
barangay Lahug that allegedly served as a front for prostitution.
Bong Sil Chang, also known as Peter, refused to issue a statement regarding his
alleged violation of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act.
Arrested with Chang were eight workers of the Apple Health Club and a pimp. The
Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Branch could not find his travel
documents.
Residents have been complaining about Chang’s club for months now.
Vice Control Section Chief George Yllanan said the operation was a product of a
month long surveillance which was eventually concluded through the use of a
police decoy that posed as a customer.
The decoy went inside the establishment at about 11p.m. last Monday bringing
with him P2, 000 cash as payment for sexual services later on.
While inside a room, a certain Gloria Cruz allegedly presented to him eight
women where he chose the one named Sunshine Gonzales.
The rest left the decoy and Gonzales in the room.
While the girl was doing her thing, the decoy made a “missed call” to Yllanan
who at that time was already somewhere in the area along with other operatives
from CIIB and VCS.
Upon receiving the missed call, Yllanan and the rest of the policemen went to
the room where the seven women and the pimp were while another policeman went
inside the room occupied by the decoy and the girl.
At the ground floor of the establishment, Cruz then called up the manager and
later on Chang surfaced and reportedly demanded for a search warrant as basis
of the operation.
But the operatives said there was no need for such because the decoy and the
girl were caught having sex.
Arrested were Menette Mendoza, Shella Cunanan, Tanya Sanchez, Caren Flores,
Carna Mendez, Michelle Venos and Marian Lao, all of legal age. All will be
charged with vagrancy and prostitution.
Chang and Cruz will be sued.
