Maza wants starlet Keanna Reeves to name clients
August 12, 2004
Starlet Keanna Reeves should identify politicians who hired her as their
"escort" in order to clear innocent parties, a woman lawmaker said Thursday.
"I think she needs to identify them to clear innocent congressmen of the
allegations and in order for us to get to the bottom of this," Partylist Rep.
Liza Maza (Gabriela) told DzMM's Dos Por Dos program. She was replying to a
question on whether a congressional investigation would summon Reeves and
require her to name names.
Maza has filed a resolution calling for an investigation into Reeves's claims
that she had been hired to escort government officials and got paid between
P10,000 to P50,000 depending on the services they wanted her to perform. She
did not identify her clients.
Maza assured that Reeves will be given protection in case she implicates
politicians.
She also warned that such escort services may be used as front for
prostitution.
"We want to look into possible loopholes in the law and come up with measures
that would preserve our morality. From what has been happening, it would seem
that current laws are not enough," Maza said.
She cited classified advertisements on newspapers that openly promote escort
services, which she said are being used to "sell women".
She noted that the law penalizes women-prostitutes, but not their clients.
