Australian man in court over sex tourism
July 7, 2004
A 51-year-old Sydney man was charged today with child sex tourism offences that
allegedly occurred in Asia.
Australian Federal Police said the man had been under investigation after he
was deported from Vietnam in April this year.
His deportation followed an investigation by Vietnamese authorities into
allegations of sexual assault against two Vietnamese children, police said.
The man has been charged under the Commonwealth Crimes Act with offences
relating to sexual intercourse with a child under 16 years outside Australia.
He was scheduled to appear in court today, police said.
