Kerala Govt recommends CBI probe into Kiliroor sex scandal

November 14, 2004

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala government has recommended to the Centre to order a CBI inquiry into the Kiliroor sex scandal involving a teenage girl, who was allegedly sexually exploited by many "prominent" persons.

According to official sources here, the request to the Centre was based on a suggestion by DGP P.K. Hormis Tharakan that the probe be handed over to CBI in view of the political nature of the case and the reported involvement of prominent persons.

Sources said the state Government had already written to the Centre in this regard.

Six persons, including the key accused Latha Nair who allegedly took the girl to many places, had already been arrested in the case, now being probed by a special police team headed by DIG R. Sreelekha.

Meanwhile, the condition of the girl, who is undergoing treatment in a private hospital at Kottayam, is stated to be very serious.
