May 24, 2004
Two Bahraini men have been accused of running a sex delivery service, by taking
prostitutes to clients.
The jobless men, aged 28 and 38, were arrested after being spotted handing over
two Arab expatriate girls to a Saudi client, the Lower Criminal Court heard.
But the men, from Muharraq and Zinj, each deny encouraging and living off the
earnings of prostitution.
A police patrol spotted the men in a car with two girls, aged 19 and 22, in
April 2000, the court heard.
He was suspicious and followed them to Nabih Saleh, where they stopped and met
a Saudi man in another car, said the prosecution.
Suspicious
The girls got into the other man's car and drove off.
The police decided to follow the Bahraini men, after alerting another patrol to
follow the other car.
When police stopped the Bahraini men at traffic lights at at about 1am, one of
them tried to throw around 400 Saudi riyals out the car window, but the
officers saw him do it, the court heard.
Meanwhile, another patrol followed the Saudi man and girls to a house in Nabi
Saleh.
The girls emerged with the man at around 2.45am and were arrested when police
stopped them nearby.
They told police that they had been dancing with Saudi men in the house and
then each had gone into separate rooms for sex, for which they were paid 2,000
Saudi riyals each.
They told police that they paid the two Bahraini men 50 riyals each for pimping
for them. The hearing was adjourned until October 24.
