The 15-year-old had escaped from Iraq to Syria with her family and was later
persuaded by a relative that she should become a prostitute to help her family.
Dubai Court of First Instance sentenced the 35-year-old Iraqi visitor,
identified as N.A., to six months in jail for also assaulting the teenager. He
will be deported after serving his term.
The Iraqi girl is currently being held at the Minor's Court on charges of
prostitution. She testified that after she fled her country to Syria with her
family, a relative told her to get into prostitution. He then introduced her to
N.A. and got papers to prove that she was the man's daughter.
N.A. kept her at his home in Al Qusais. He took her to night clubs and got her
into prostitution. She testified that N.A. did not give her any money and beat
her with a belt after he became suspicious that she had a boyfriend.
