Consequently, the matter reached the RAK court, which gave its verdict on one of
the most complicated cases that rocked the emirate recently, when it sentenced
the Arab national to two months imprisonment followed by deportation on charges
of raping the two women.
According to the case history, a few months ago, two housemaids of different
Asian nationalities approached the RAK Police Department (RPD) alleging that 'A
A', an Arab, forced them to have sex with him on two different occasions.
In her plea, the first woman said the accused hired her to help him pack his
furniture as he was shifting his residence. After the housemaid completed the
work, he pushed her down and raped her.
The second victim alleged that the accused also called her to put his new house
in order and then forced her to have sex with him.
The complainants said they were scared about approaching the authorities to
complain since they were ignorant of the law, besides not having any money to
pay for legal proceedings and to hire a legal representative.
They said that after they confided in each other about the crime they were
subjected to, they were emboldened to take legal action against the accused.
The court said it had given a lenient ruling because the plaintiffs lodged
their complaint a month after the crime.
