Sex.co.kr make its Internet debut

The owner of the popular www.sex.co.kr domain name said he will launch an
Internet portal based on the Web address that will feature a variety of adult
information.
Nam Kee-joong, 28, who snapped up the valuable property last year, said he will
start the service from today, offering Web site registration, a search engine,
an online community and gaming. In addition, the site will offer interviews
with celebrities about their sexual lifestyles, also providing text-based adult
content.
Nam said he hopes Internet users will use the site to create a “healthy” sexual
culture on the Web.
“This will provide an opportunity for adult Internet users to enjoy quality
information on sex,” he added.
Generally, Internet portals depend on having a substantial numbers of users
visit other sites through their portal, selling advertising space based on the
volume of users.
The new portal is expected to attract tens of thousands of users without a
public relations drive, Nam said.
Pornographic Web sites are among the biggest earners on the Internet, whereas
many content- based site owners have struggled to make money.
Last November, Nam bought the sex.co.kr domain name in an auction held by the
Korea Network Information Center,“.kr” domain registration agency.
Despite the current downturn in the Internet market, the sex.co.kr domain name
is estimated to be worth at least billions of won, industry observers said.
