Ex-principal slapped on wrist for distributing nude photos of woman colleague
January 27, 2005
A junior high school principal who was sacked for distributing composite
photographs showing a former woman colleague's head attached to a nude body was
on Monday handed a suspended prison sentence.
Convicting the former principal, Tsuyoshi Hashimoto, of defaming the teacher,
the Okayama District Court sentenced him to 2 years imprisonment, suspended for
three years.
"It was a malicious crime based on his sexual interests, and the woman's
feelings were particularly hurt," judge Minako Kuniyasu said in handing down
the ruling.
Hashimoto was convicted of combining a photograph of the teacher, who
previously worked with him at a junior high school, with a photograph showing a
naked woman's body, making it look like the teacher had no clothes on.
On over eight occasions between December 2003 and August 2004, he distributed
13 composite photographs in various locations, including in front of her
apartment, the court heard.
Some of the obscene images contained the name and address of the teacher, and
she was forced to move after a man she didn't know turned up at her home.
After she moved, Hashimoto sent her mail-order lingerie along with letters
demanding that she start a sexual relationship with him, according to the
ruling.
During his trial, Hashimoto admitted to distributing the photographs, saying,
"I was mentally unstable because of stress at work."
The principal was sacked from his school in Ushimado, Okayama Prefecture, in
September 2004.
