Ex-TV announcer caught filming up girl's skirt

Sendai - A former announcer of Higashi Nippon Broadcasting Co. who used a video
camera to secretly film up a high school student's skirt has been arrested,
police said.
The former announcer, Koshiki Sasagawa, 30, was arrested on suspicion of
violating a Miyagi prefectural ordinance that forbids people from creating a
public nuisance. He has reportedly admitted to the allegations against him.
"It was just for amusement," he was quoted as telling police.
Investigators said Sasagawa filmed up the 18-year-old girl's skirt at a
pachinko parlor in Sendai's Aoba-ku on Nov. 27. His actions were uncovered
after a store employee thought he was acting suspiciously and asked him what he
was doing.
After his arrest, police seized several dozen secretly filmed tapes from his
home.
It was not the first time Sasagawa has been involved in a crime. While he was
working as an announcer last year, police sent an investigation report to
prosecutors, accusing him of stealing a CD in a store in Tokyo's Shibuya-ku,
but prosecutors shelved the indictment against him.
Sasagawa entered Higashi Nippon Broadcasting Co. as an announcer in 1997,
handing mainly news programs. He was moved to the firm's general affairs
section in March this year.
Officials at the company apologized over the actions of their employee.
"We want to apologize to the victim and residents in the prefecture," the
company said in a message from the firm's general affairs manager. As a
broadcaster, we want to work to improve the ethics of employees so this sort of
incident does not happen again in the future."
