Injured Chinese model Lin expected back home next week

Injured model Chiling Lin is in good condition and should return to Taiwan next week, her agent said yesterday.

Lin fell from a horse while shooting a commercial in northern China last Friday, her agent said earlier. Media reports said Lin was filming in the northeastern port of Dalian.

Lin's doctor in China, Zhu Yongtao, was quoted as saying in the Apple Daily newspaper that Lin suffered from six fractured ribs but that they will heal naturally.

Lin's mother Wu Tse-mei yesterday departed for China carrying a suitcase full of goodies and medicine for her daughter.

Sources said Lin's agent, Chiang I-jung wanted to put the model in Cathay General Hospital once she returned here, but her mother was firmly against this idea, saying Lin would stay in National Taiwan University Hospital at the recommendation of friends.

Lin's mother, who cried every day after her daughter was injured and made calls to Dalian three times a day to find out about her daughter's condition, reached Dalian in the afternoon.

She was carrying goodies such as chicken essence, high protein milk powder and ginseng slices.

Wu said she would stay with her daughter in Dalian until she was well enough to return to Taiwan.

Chiang, who recently returned from China to Taiwan, said Lin would return to Taiwan earlier than expected, with the model originally expected to be hospitalized for two weeks. The exact date of the beauty's return would be finalized after discussion with her family.

Lin, who has been hospitalized for six days, was removed to another hospital in the area yesterday after instruments at the first hospital malfunctioned. Sources said she is taking many pain killers.
