Chinese teenagers help peers air sexual problems
January 28, 2005
An 18-year-old teenager from northeast China's Changchun recently quit school
and opened a consulting hotline for other teenagers obsessed with puberty
troubles.
Li Tong, quite different from most of his peers attending school everyday,
perceived the world by working as a bar waiter.
There he met many young people who have problems related to sex but have no one
to talk to, and wanted to help.
His consulting work mainly involves talking about sexual problems with
teenagers, and offering advice and tips.
Some adults frown upon the hotline as Li himself doesn't have any experience of
the kind. His advice may mislead the young.
But some experts have encouraged his action, citing the overall lack of sex
education in China.
