Survey exposes sexual harassment problem in Taiwan

A survey has revealed that 72 per cent of people in Taiwan Province have been the victims of sexually harassment in the past two years, reports the news website www.people.com.cn.

Public transportation is where incidents are most likely to occur, with the workplace, leisure venues and hospitals following.

Students are most likely to be targeted.

The survey, organized by more than 10 women's organizations on the island, found that bawdy e-mails are the most common form of sexual harassment, followed by verbal harassment.

As for who is most likely to harass, 38.8 per cent answered said strangers, 15.9 per cent acquaintances or family members, 2.2 per cent medical staff and 1.9 per cent motorists.
