Forum on 'science of sex' in China

May 20, 2004

A forum on the science of sex will be held in this October in Beijing to promote the development of sexology in China, reports Straits Times.

The forum will henceforth be held once a year, starting from this year. The association was established in 1989.

According to Professor Hu Peicheng, general secretary of the China Sexology Association (CSA), new concepts of sexual quotient and sexual health will be discussed at the forum.

Peicheng said that sex is no longer a taboo subject in China and the new concepts can provide people with scientific and comprehensive knowledge about sex and help them to establish right opinions on sex.

'Sexual quotient is a new concept proposed to reflect the health state of one's sex life,' said Peicheng.

Moreover, Chinese sexologists are doing research to make this more accurate and measurable.

During this forum, researchers will summarise China's scientific achievements on sexual science and select the highest award winners in China's sexology research for the first time.

An exhibition on China's sexual culture and history will also be showcased during this historical forum.
