Chinese investors get more than they asked for when brokerage airs porn

Police are questioning an employee of one of China's biggest stock brokerages
after a big-screen TV in the firm's Caobao Road trading office broadcast a
hardcore porn film for several minutes on Thursday afternoon.
About fifty small investors, many of them elderly women, were in the office of
China Galaxy Securities Co Ltd when the skin flick was broadcast, according to
company security guards.
Witness accounts differ on how long the movie was shown, ranging between two
and five minutes.
Some stunned customers called police as soon as they realized what was
happening.
One of the trading firm's technical support workers was taken in for
questioning yesterday.
The foreign sex movie popped up on a 43-inch LCD TV screen in the business hall
around 2pm on Thursday.
"The television was just put into use last month. It usually shows
company-produced programs introducing information about small and medium-sized
companies," said a security guard working at the exchange yesterday.
"No one realized what was going on until we saw the people in the movie were
taking off their clothes," said the guard, who asked not to be identified.
He said security guards then rushed to the video control room, where the
television is linked to a computer network. The only person working in the room
- the unnamed man now being questioned - quickly shut off the movie.
Workers at the exchange said the man, who is in his 40s, was watching the porno
himself and accidentally broadcast it on the public TV set.
"Usually the remote control to that TV is held by the technical supporters who
turn it on when they need to show stock programs. He had assumed that the TV
outside had been shut off when he began watching the movie," said a company
security guard.
Police wouldn't discuss the matter yesterday. A female customer who was in the
hall at the time the film was shown said she felt humiliated.
Several officials from Galaxy's local headquarters arrived at the exchange soon
after the incident and vowed to seriously punish those responsible for the
scandal.
