US will collaborate with Russia in fight against human trafficking

Moscow - US Secretary of State Colin Powell has proposed that Russia and the US
collaborate in the fight against human trafficking. As a Rosbalt correspondent
reports, Mr Powell made this announcement today at the opening of the first
Russian Assembly of non-governmental organizations against human trafficking.
'The US will be your friend and ally in the fight against drug trafficking,' Mr
Powell stressed. In his opinion, the problem of human trafficking and child sex
abuse is prevalent in every country of the world.
Mr Powell hopes that legislators in both countries will cooperate in protecting
human rights and he called for the creation of international legislation. He
criticized the efforts of foreign governments to protect people from this
abominable occurrence.
Mr Powell gave a positive assessment of the first Russian Assembly of
non-governmental organizations against human trafficking. 'This assembly is an
important step towards solving the problem of slavery in Russia,' he said.
